I need to crowdsource something. In general I am trying to get the correct historic perspective on some older players.

Rate the players coming up from 1-5.
5=World Class, starter on a top CL team.
4=Very good.
3=League Regular
2=Backup in a major league
1=Lower League talent only

Examples:
Messi is a 5 (and would be higher if the scale went there).
Frank Lampard is a 5
Robert Pires is a 5.
Nani is a 4 .
Gareth Barry is a 4.
Damien Duff is a 3.

Now give me your ratings for the following:

Brett Emerton.
Muzzy Izzet.
Morten Gamst Pedersen.
David Bentley.
Carlton Cole
Stephane Sessegnon
Sal Kalou
Thomas Hitzsperger
Jermaine Pennant
Steed Malbranque
Nobby Solano
Eyal Berkovic
Geremi
Wayne Routledge
Simon Davies
Danny Murphy
El-Hadji Diouf

    Apologies if the following is in any way contradictory.

    Brett Emerton – 3. 12 seasons of top flight football (3 in holland) averaged 30 games a season (and lots of aussie caps,world cup appearance)
    Muzzy Izzet – 3 (could argue a 2) 260 games, 37 goals for leic over 9 season, of which 7 were in EPL.
    Morten Gamsdt Ped – 3. 8 years in prem, 260 appearances. Base on first 4 years with blacburn, could argue for a 4.
    David Bentley – 3. 120 games, 16 goals over 6 premier league seasons. When he played looked like a 4, but played so little once he left blackburn.
    Carlton Cole – 3. 233 games, 50 goals over 9 years (one in championship). Not enough goals.
    Stephane Sessegnon – 4. 222 appearances at the top level, 4.5 seasons in France 2.5 in EPL. Quality player; would get much more credit if he was at a more fashhoinable club. As good as Barry was at Villa before his big money move (IMO).
    Sal Kalou – 4. I think you can justify giving 2-4 for him; technically, he was a backup at chelsea (still scored 60, with 40 assists in 251 games), but then has scored 13 in 26 with Lille and his Ivory Coast record is excellent (57 caps, 21 goals)
    Thomas Hitzelsperger – 3. Wanted to give a 4, but whilst he had flashes of brilliance, he has just been a league regular in EPL and Bund. 1 for 7 years.
    Jermaine Pennant – 2. He’s had 3 good seasons – 1 at Birmingham which got his big move, 1 at Zaragoza, and another at Stoke. but mostly he’s been a backup (possibly through injury/off the field issues).
    Steed Malbranque – 4. 16 season of top flight football, 565 games, 70 goals.
    Nobby Solano – 4.334 EPL appearances, 28 goals (425/63 total) along with 95 caps (20 goals).
    Eyal berkovic – 3. A player i was sure i would give 4 too; but he just didnt play enough games. 32 over 2 seasons in scotland, 56 in 3 seasons at Man City. Id be happy to change if someone can talk me into it . . . .Maybe his international caps (82/14 goals) mean he should be 4?
    Geremi – 4. I think based on his appearnace figures you could again argu he deserves a 2 (based on the rating system), but he has played for good sides (Real, Chelsea), and he had an outstanding international career (118/13 goals for Cameroon)
    Wayne Routledge – 2. Given his last 2 seasons at swansea you can begin to argue for a 3; but all of his career previous to this he has been a good championship player, but unable to break into an EPL side.
    Simon Davies – 2. I’m assuming Simon Davies at Fulham, not the kid who game through the ranks with Becks et al. Averages about 20 games a season; has been a mainstay at times, but more of a backup (again, argue with me and i could be convinced to move this to 3). (58 caps over 9 years for wales).
    Danny Murphy – 3. About 400 permier league games; and im sure liverpool and fulham fans may argue for a 4, but he’s an acceptable, hard worked professional. He may even have been a better definition of a 3 than Damian Duff.
    El Hadji Diouf – 3. 230 ish league games over 10 season in EPL; 4 years in Ligue 1 averaging 25 games a season – BUT only had 1 season (01-02 with Lens) when he made it to double figures in goals.
