Will has been working in sports analytics since 2012, first writing on his own blog and later for the StatsBomb website before turning professional in early 2019. He has juggled data from multiple sports, particularly soccer and cricket, and has presented at several sports analytics research conferences. Before working in sports analytics full-time, he was at the University of Manchester for 12 years where he researched air pollution and climate change as first a PhD student and then as a Research Fellow. This included fieldwork across the globe flying on a research aircraft operating various instruments, planning flights, and getting to sit in the cockpit as leader of the scientific direction of the flight. Outside of work, Will can be found walking his dog, pretending he can bowl a cricket ball quickly, and watching various adventures in space and time.
