Blackburn Rovers has signed a deal with StatsBomb to use its contextual event data and customisable analysis tools.
The agreement with the leading football data provider highlights Blackburn Rovers’ commitment to supporting the club’s recruitment and analysis departments with the most advanced data in the industry.
The partnership will see the EFL Championship team become the latest professional club to sign up for StatsBomb 360, contextual event data that includes the location of every player around each event. The 360 data will allow Blackburn Rovers to perform team, opposition and recruitment analysis at a much deeper level of detail, including metrics such as Ball Receipts In Space, Line-Breaking Passes, and more. Blackburn Rovers will also be able to visualise and review key actions from each game with the 360 Freeze Frame Viewer, the data visualisation tool that allows the user to see player locations around each selected event.
As part of the agreement, Blackburn Rovers will also benefit from StatsBomb’s performance data and IQ insights platform. The performance data will feature over 3,000 match events per game and includes unique metrics, such as Pass Footedness, Shot Impact Height, Pressures By Player and Team, and more. The IQ access will enhance the club’s tactical decision-making and recruitment processes throughout its domestic campaigns.
Gregg Broughton, Director of Football, Blackburn Rovers, said:
“We are very happy to enter into a long-term partnership with StatsBomb in order to help us appraise performance internally and externally. The use of data will be key to the operation of both our recruitment and analysis departments, as we look to embrace both objective and subjective information to give us a competitive advantage.”
Alex Taylor, Sales Executive, StatsBomb added:
"We are excited to be working with Blackburn Rovers. The club has demonstrated a strong commitment to embedding our comprehensive data package into their existing processes and departments. Blackburn Rovers has a long history of proven success in the top English leagues and we look forward to enhancing their bid for promotion this season.”
