StatsBomb Increases Portuguese Presence with Futebol Clube Do Porto Partnership

StatsBomb, the industry-leading provider of advanced sports data and analytics, has agreed a partnership with Futebol Clube Do Porto, one of the biggest teams in Europe.

Porto will benefit from the most detailed and reliable football data available, with over 3,400 events per match across over 100 competitions around the world. StatsBomb Data includes unique metrics such as pressures at a team and player level, pass footedness and pass height, in addition to freeze frames that provide detailed defender and goalkeeper location information on every shot.

The Portuguese club will also have access to the advanced analysis and scouting platform StatsBomb IQ, which will help them remain at the vanguard of opposition analysis, internal performance tracking and player scouting.

Carlos Hernandez Pintado, Head of Football Performance Analysis and Insights at Futebol Clube Do Porto:

“This tool not only allows us to verify observed patterns but also to identify possible weak points in our opponents. We are able to gain a holistic view of a team’s performance, both in and out of possession, including in terms of how they line up for set pieces.

“It is possible to quickly and visually detect the profile that governs a team’s play and from there rapidly access a multitude of data points and characteristics, both collective and individual, that allow us to filter the important from the trivial.

“Supporting all of our analysis with StatsBomb’s data makes our work more complete.”

Pablo Peña Rodríguez, Head of Innovation at StatsBomb:

“We are delighted to sign this agreement with a club recognised for their excellent management. FC Porto have a history of doing things in an intelligent manner, and it is our intention to help them continue along that path by providing access to the best data and analysis tools available.”
