StatsBomb Named Analytical Services Provider For The Austrian Football Bundesliga Clubs

StatsBomb has signed a multi-year partnership to provide analytical services to the clubs of the Austrian Bundesliga, the top division in the professional Austrian league system.

The agreement is the first of its kind for StatsBomb and will see the league and its twelve member clubs benefit from StatsBomb’s advanced football data and IQ analysis platform. It includes access to 3,400 events per match and unique StatsBomb metrics, such as Pressures by Team and Player and Pass Footedness, as well as detailed profiles for every player in the domestic league.

As part of the deal, each individual user will have access to StatsBomb’s recently upgraded Expected Goals (xG) model. The new model includes a variety of upgraded features and goes beyond the original purpose of simply measuring the quality of a chance. Users can now have a better understanding of goalkeeper positioning and its contribution to suppressing xG values, understanding of player finishing skill is improved, and Shot Velocity is a new feature within the Post-Shot xG model.

The agreement commenced at the beginning of this current season and will continue through the forthcoming 2023/34 and 2024/25 campaigns.

Speaking about the announcement, Ismail Tari, Business Development Lead, StatsBomb said:

We are delighted to announce this strategic partnership with the goal of contributing to Austria’s increasing importance in world football. This partnership will also strengthen the clubs’ innovative approach to key aspects of the modern game, including player recruitment and performance analysis. Also a big thank you to David Reisenauer for being a great counterpart throughout the entire process.”

David Reisenauer, Head of Competition at Austrian Bundesliga added:

“As a league we are always looking for new ways to support the daily work of our clubs and especially the coaches. With adding data from StatsBomb to our widespread portfolio on data analytics we made additional progress and are now looking forward to a great cooperation over the next few years.“
