Real Salt Lake has become the latest elite soccer club to start using StatsBomb as its exclusive data and analytics provider.
The partnership with the industry-leading company showcases the MLS team’s intent to build on its recent Western Conference successes by strengthening its performance, opposition, and recruitment analysis operations with StatsBomb’s analytical services.
Real Salt Lake has signed up for StatsBomb’s performance data that contains over 3,400 events per match across 80+ competitions worldwide. The event data includes unique metrics for critical aspects of a game, such as Freeze Frames for Shots, Pressures at Player and Team Level and On-Ball Value - StatsBomb’s possession value model.
The Western Conference finalists will also have access to the StatsBomb IQ platform, enabling them to tailor unique workflows by customising visualisations, searches and data.
Alexandre Taylor, Sales Executive, StatsBomb, said:
“We are delighted to be working with Real Salt Lake, a club with world-leading facilities and at the forefront of soccer innovation. We are looking forward to strengthening our partnership, contributing to the club’s data-driven strategy, where our data will help inform critical decisions around academy development and first team recruitment and scouting.”
Speaking about the partnership, Vahe Tanielian, Director of Data Analytics, Real Salt Lake, said:
“Working with StatsBomb has immensely changed the way we scout, analyse and recruit players from all levels of our organisation. The ability to disseminate our U15 and U17 academy teams in the IQ platform has enabled us to have a more objective and data-driven approach to player performance and development as well.”
