What To Expect From The StatsBomb Conference 2023?

The event will cover both a Main Stage and a Research Track Stage, with more details to be revealed soon about speakers, panels, and the StatsBomb Research Competition…

Since our last conference, we have expanded the offering of our exclusive StatsBomb 360 data by introducing new Line-Breaking Passes and Ball Receipts In Space 360 metrics for customers, as well as upgrading our suite of xG models, and finalising the development of more models to be launched between now and the event.

The event will give you an exclusive insight into the most innovative research happening in football analytics. There will be countless opportunities to meet and get inspired by members of the industry - including researchers, club analysts, scouts, and data scientists.

Main Stage

Over the last four years the standard of guest speakers at the StatsBomb Conference has been incredibly high. Our expert guests have imparted insights from the world’s top football clubs, openly discussed their experiences in driving an analytics-based culture within their organisations, and debated how the industry will continue to grow in the future.

In 2022, we were treated to talks by William Spearman (Liverpool FC’s Lead Data Scientist), Tom Worville (RB Leipzig’s Scouting Data Scientist), and John Burn-Murdoch (Chief Financial Reporter for the Financial Times) amongst many others.

Research Track

Every year we run the StatsBomb Conference Research Paper competition. The Research Track stage showcases the novel and applicable research projects from the winning groups and individuals. All this research was performed on StatsBomb Event and 360 Data.

Last year, the nature of the papers covered a variety of topics, including player decision-making, measuring player creativity and identifying optimal crosses.

We made a selection of the 2022 StatsBomb Conference talks available to watch anytime on our YouTube channel, including every presentation delivered on the Research Track Stage:

Get Inspired

  • We are proud of the work we do within the football industry. Since our StatsBomb IQ launch, we have offered free access to our data analysis platform to women’s teams.
  • In 2019, our CEO Ted Knutson hosted a thought-provoking panel titled ‘Working in Football: Opportunities and Difficulties’ with Emma Hayes, Vosse de Boode, and Jacqui Oatley MBE. The panel (available on demand) discussed data development in the women’s game, and how to break-through into the male-dominated industry.
  • Our Diversity Tickets Initiative will return again this year, with details to be released soon.

There is a huge array of informative and inspiring talks to choose from at our events. We’re looking forward to doing it all again in 2023.

Once again, the Earlybird tickets are available now for £299 (Plus VAT + fees).

This rate ends on 31st March and prices increase to £375 (Plus VAT + fees).
