StatsBomb Offers Free Analytics Support to Women’s Teams in 2023/24

At StatsBomb, we have always been vocal about our support for the women’s game. The last year has been transformative in the sport, and events like the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup have captured the attention of the entire football community.

Over the last 12 months, we have partnered with two history-making teams in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup; Pledged to #GetOnside as part of a Women in Football initiative; carried out a case study on Advanced Data Use in Women’s Football; supported the Hays x Manchester City Women’s Hackathon Event; and we’ve provided access to StatsBomb IQ to women’s teams, completely free of charge, for the fifth season in a row.

We are proud to announce that we will be continuing our support of women’s football in 2023/24 by offering free access to our StatsBomb IQ analytics platform. This offer is open to all teams in the top women’s leagues in England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Finland, and the USA. We have also started to collect data for the Swedish Damallsvenskan and our first Latin American league: Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil. Any club in the listed leagues will be able to access state-of-the-art analytics, which can be used to support their performance, match, and opposition analysis.

How is the Initiative Going?

Each season we have seen consistent growth in the number of teams adopting StatsBomb analytics into their workflows. We currently have 34 women’s clubs in contract across 7 different leagues.

Recently, all 10 member clubs of the Kansallinen Liiga, the premier division of women’s football in Finland, decided to take us up on our offer. The partnership was the first of its kind, and highlighted the entire league's commitment to data innovation.

In preparation for the new season, two clubs in England's WSL have chosen to upgrade their package to include our advanced performance data and increased league coverage, both of which support recruitment, benchmarking, and more.

Over the span of the last year, we have worked with the champions of the NWSL in the USA, the winners of the Dutch Vrouwen Eredivisie, and two of the four UEFA Champions League semi-finalists. All of these teams used StatsBomb IQ to aid their match and data analysis: a fact that reflects the initiative’s success.

During the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup we partnered with Jamaica and Australia to provide them with free access to our IQ platform and support from our customer success team. Both teams made history for their nations, Jamaica qualifying for the knockout rounds and Australia reaching the semi-finals - the furthest both have progressed in a World Cup - and we are proud to have played a small part in that.

We’re encouraged by all of the above, but there’s still a gap to bridge in the women’s game, and we are actively seeking to engage more eligible teams to take advantage of our initiative.

How can StatsBomb IQ help you?

StatsBomb IQ is our analytics platform, designed to make data-driven insights accessible to every user. Teams at all levels of football use the platform to aid their performance analysis, opposition analysis, and player recruitment, and it contains several unique StatsBomb performance metrics such as pressures by team or player, Pass Footedness and Height, as well our market-leading Expected Goals (xG) model.
